Gunnery Sgt. Peterman holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from St. Olaf College, and a Master of Music Education from Boston University.
Gunnery Sgt. Peterman enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 2013 and completed Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California and Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, California. He completed the Basic Music Course in 2013 at the Naval School of Music in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Gunnery Sgt. Peterman served as a French horn instrumentalist in the following fleet Marine bands: 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band (2013-2017); III Marine Expeditionary Force Band (2018-2021). As do all fleet Marine musicians, Gunnery Sgt. Peterman served in a variety of music, collateral duty, and leadership roles, to include platoon leadership.
From 2021-2024, he served as a recruiter with Recruiting Station Twin Cities.
Gunnery Sgt. Peterman attended the Unit Leader Course (2024). His awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2nd Award).
