Staff Sgt. Veeder Ransom currently serves as the production manager of Marine Band San Diego. In this capacity he is the chief sound engineer and the band’s marketing and communication lead.
Staff Sgt. Ransom holds a Bachelor in Music Education from Northwest Missouri State University, and a Masters in Music Performance from the Conservatory at University of Missouri, Kansas City, where he studied trombone under Dr. JoDee Davis.
Staff Sgt. Ransom enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 2015 and completed Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California and Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, California. He completed the Basic Music Course in 2016 at the Naval School of Music in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Staff Sgt Ransom served as a trombone instrumentalist in the following fleet Marine bands: U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific Band (2016-2019); the 2nd Marine Division Band (2019-2023); and Marine Band San Diego (2024-2025). As do all fleet Marine musicians, Staff Sgt. Ransom served in a variety of music, collateral duty, and leadership roles, to include platoon leadership.
Staff Sergeant Ransom attended the Live Production Technician's Course (2021) and the Unit Leader Course (2023). His awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
