Staff Sergeant Hershey is currently serving as the Instrument Repair Technician for Marine Band San Diego.
Born and raised in Cincinnati Ohio, SSgt Hershey attended Baldwin Wallace University studying music performance under Jack Sutte, John Brndiar, and Dwight Oltman. Achieving a Bacheolor of Arts in Trumpet Performance he then enlisted in the Marine Corps in the Music Enlistment Option Program. Upon graduating boot camp in December 2013, he then attended Marine Combat training, and the Naval School of Music Basic Musicians Course. After MOS school LCpl Hershey was stationed at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego as a Trumpet Instrumentalist. In 2018 Sgt Hershey executed a permanent change of station to the Quantico Marine Corps Band where he served several roles to include, Trumpet Instrumentalist, Platoon Sergeant, and Security Augmentation Force NCOIC. As a SSgt, he was selected to the billet of 5523 Instrument Repair Technician. It was at this time that he was sent to Minnesta State College Southeast where he completed the Band Instrument Repair Course. Once Completing this advanced training SSgt Hershey was sent to his current assignment as the Band Instrument Repair Technician aboard MCRD San Diego.
SSgt Hershey’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal.
