Master Sergeant Pierce assumed his current billet as the Production Manager for Marine Band San Diego on June 15th, 2024. A native of Indianapolis, IN he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on his 17th birthday, September 23rd, 2004 out of Owensboro, KY. He graduated from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Parris Island, South Carolina, in October 2005 and reported to Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina, shortly after. He was assigned as a Basic Musician (Electric Bass) as his military occupational specialty.
In July 2006, Master Sergeant Pierce reported to the Marine Forces Pacific Band, Marine Corps Forces Pacific, Kaneohe Bay, HI. In June 2009 he received orders to Marine Corps Base Quantico and served as a Basic Musician and Arranger until August 2012 when he reported to the Unit Leaders Course at the Naval School of Music aboard Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek/Fort Story and graduated with a MOS proficiency score in the top 2% of Marine Musicians. Upon graduation he was assigned to MCRD San Diego where he served as a Basic Musician, Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor, and Assistant Small Ensemble Leader.
In August 2017, Master Sergeant Pierce reported to the Senior Musicians Course at the Naval School of Music aboard Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek/Fort Story. Upon completion, he received orders to the Marine Forces Pacific Band, Marine Corps Forces Pacific, Kaneohe Bay, HI where he served as a Basic Musician, Chief Sound Engineer, and Chief Arranger. It was during this tour that he was recognized as the United States Marine Corps Staff Non-commissioned Officer Musician of the Year for calendar year 2020. In August 2021 Master Sergeant Pierce reported to the Third Marine Aircraft Wing Band where he served as the unit's Small Ensemble Leader and later Production Manager.
Master Sergeant Pierce’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (gold star in lieu of second award) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
