Warrant Officer Harper enlisted in the Marine Corps in August 2009 and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. Upon completion of recruit training, Marine Combat Training, and the Naval School of Music, she reported to Marine Corps Base Quantico to serve as an Oboe Instrumentalist with the Quantico Marine Corps Band. During her tour, served as the ensemble leader for the woodwind quintet and held collateral responsibilities in the unit’s operations and music library sections.
Following her tour in Quantico, Sergeant Harper returned to the Naval School of Music to attend the Unit Leader Course from January to August 2015. Upon completion of the course, she reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island in August 2015 to serve the Parris Island Marine Band as an Oboe Instrumentalist. This tour proved pivotal and Sergeant Harper served as the Assistant Enlisted Conductor in addition to leadership roles within the platoon, music library, training, and operations sections. In October 2017, she was promoted to Staff Sergeant.
In June 2019, Staff Sergeant Harper reported to Marine Forces Reserve Command to serve the Marine Forces Reserve Band as an Oboe Instrumentalist and in 2020 was competitively selected for the billet of Enlisted Conductor.
Staff Sergeant Harper executed orders to Marine Band San Diego in July 2021. In December of that year, she was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant. During her tour with Marine Band San Diego, she served in roles as the Enlisted Conductor and Bandmaster. Gunnery Sergeant Harper attended the Advanced Musician Course at the Naval School of Music from September to December 2022 and was the honor graduate of the joint service class.
In August 2023, Gunnery Sergeant Harper reported to the 3d Marine Aircraft Wing Band where she served as the Enlisted Conductor. In October 2023, she was selected for Warrant Officer and reported to The Basic School, Quantico VA in January 2024 for the Warrant Officer Basic Course (WOBC).
Warrant Officer Harper was promoted to her current grade in February 2024 and reported back to Marine Band San Diego in June 2024 where she serves as the Officer in Charge.
Warrant Officer Harper’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation (gold star in lieu of second award), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two gold stars in lieu of third award), and the Good Conduct medal (three bronze stars in lieu of fourth award)
