Chief Warrant Officer 2 Megan Harper currently serves as director of the Marine Band San Diego. In this capacity she serves as the officer in charge and principal conductor. She manages, administers, and coordinates musical performances, develops budgets and annual operation plans, directs internal operations and training, and supervises the employment of a Marine Corps fleet band.
Chief Warrant Officer 2 Harper holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Stetson University.
Chief Warrant Officer 2 Harper enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 2009 and completed Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina and Marine Combat Training at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. She completed the Basic Music Course in 2010 at the Naval School of Music in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Chief Warrant Officer 2 Harper served as an oboe instrumentalist in the following fleet Marine bands: Quantico Marine Band (2010-2015); Parris Island Marine Band (2015-2019); and the U.S. Marine Corps Forces Reserve Band (2019-2020). Chief Warrant Officer 2 Harper served as an enlisted conductor in the following fleet Marine bands: U.S Marine Corps Forces Reserve Band (2020-2021); Marine Band San Diego (2021-2023); and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band (2023-2024). As do all fleet Marine musicians, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Harper served in a variety of music, collateral duty, and leadership roles, to include platoon leadership.
Chief Warrant Officer 2 Harper was appointed a warrant officer and graduated from The Basic School in 2024.
Chief Warrant Officer 2 Harper attended the Unit Leader Course (2015) and the Advanced Musician Course (2022). Her awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2nd award) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3rd award).
