Chief Warrant Officer 4 DeMarius Jackson currently serves as the commanding officer, Marine Detachment – Naval School of Music. In this capacity, he oversees and manages the unit, supervises training, and provides leadership and guidance to Marines assigned in support of the Naval School of Music mission.
Chief Warrant Officer 4 Jackson holds a Bachelor of Music Performance from Winthrop University, a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from Rowan University, and a Doctor of Music Education from Liberty University.
Chief Warrant Officer 4 Jackson enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserves in 2002 and completed Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. He completed the Basic Music Course in 2005 at the Armed Forces School of Music in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Chief Warrant Officer 4 Jackson served as a saxophone instrumentalist in the 2nd Marine Division Band (2005–2008). He later served as a small ensemble leader and enlisted conductor with the III Marine Expeditionary Force Band (2012–2014). As do all fleet Marine musicians, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Jackson served in a variety of music, collateral duty, and leadership roles, to include platoon leadership.
Chief Warrant Officer 4 Jackson deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (2007). From 2008-2011, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Jackson served as an instructor at the Naval School of Music.
Chief Warrant Officer 4 Jackson was appointed a warrant officer and graduated from The Basic School in 2015 and served as the director of the following fleet Marine bands: 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Band (2015-2017), U.S. Marine Corps Forces Reserve Band (2017-2019), and the III Marine Expeditionary Force Band (2019-2024).
Chief Warrant Officer 4 Jackson attended the Unit Leader Course (2008), the Senior Musician Course (2012) and is a graduate of Expeditionary Warfare School (2021). He was the Marine Musician of the Year (2008) and the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer Musician of the Year (2013). His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (2nd award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4th award), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
