Gunnery Sergeant Espinosa, a native of Hollywood, California, enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in September of 2006 where he attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California. During that time Private Espinosa was promoted to Private First Class. Following graduation, he attended to the School of Infantry, Marine Combat Training in Camp Pendleton, Ca. He received orders to the Naval School of Music, Norfolk Virginia to attend the Basic Musicians Course. He was promoted to Lance Corporal in 2007. After completed the Basic Musicians Course in August 2007, Lance Corporal Espinosa received orders to the Combat Center Band, Twentynine Palms, California. While serving with Combat Center Band he was promoted to Corporal in 2008 and completed the Sound Technicians Course at the Naval School of Music, Norfolk Virginia, as the honor graduate. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2009. In July 2010, Sergeant Espinosa reported to Marine Band San Diego, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California. Sergeant Espinosa served as the Platoon Sergeant, Sound NCOIC, and Jazz Combo/Rock Band leader. He led the Jazz Combo/Rock Band on several tours of the western United States. Sergeant Espinosa was selected to play with the Marine Corps All Star Jazz Combo in 2013. He volunteered for recruiting duty and in September 2014, he reported to Recruiter's School Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California. Upon his graduation from Recruiter's School in October of 2014, he proceeded to check into RS Phoenix, Phoenix Arizona. Sergeant Espinosa was promoted to Staff Sergeant in December 2014. He served as a Recruiter for RSS West Phoenix, Officer Selection Assistant for Tempe, and again as Assistant Station Commander/Recruiter for RSS Paradise Valley. Staff Sergeant Espinosa completed a successful recruiting tour in November 2017. In December 2017, Staff Sergeant Espinosa reported to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band in Miramar California. There, he served as the Enlisted Conductor, Instrument Repair Technician, and Guitar Instrumentalist. He was promoted to the Rank of Gunnery Sergeant in September 2019. While in Mirimar, he led the band in over 40 ceremonies and led smaller group on tours across the United States. Gunnery Sergeant Espinosa returned to the Naval School of music, Norfolk, Virginia, in September 2019 to attend the Unit Leader's Course. While at this 9 month long course Gunnery Sergeant Espinosa was the Class Leader. While at this course he learned conducting techniques, drum major techniques, small ensemble leadership skill, rehearsal skills, and ceremonial knowledge. In June 2022, upon graduating from the Unit Leader's Course, Gunnery Sergeant Espinosa reported to the Quantico Marine Band, Quantico Virginia. He has served as the Small Ensemble Leader and Elnisted Conductor for all groups in the unit, coordinating over 350 commitments. Gunnery Sergeant Espinosa currently serves as the Enlisted Band Leader. Gunnery Sergeant Espinosa's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2nd award).
