Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island Band
Staff Sergeant Victor L. Norris
SSgt Norris currently serves as the Production Manager in the Parris Island Marine Band and has performed in this capacity since July of 2023.
 
SSgt Norris is a native of Birmingham, AL. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2005 and attended Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. Marine Combat Training then the Basic Musician’s Course at the Naval School of Music in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
 
In January 2006, LCpl Norris reported to the Combat Center Band, 29 Palms, California to serve as Saxophone Instrumentalist, Section Leader, Supply Clerk, and Government Commercial Purchase Cardholder.  He apprenticed as Instrument Repair Technician (IRT) and promoted through to the rank of Sergeant.
 
In March 2009, Sgt Norris reported to the III Marine Expeditionary Force Band, Okinawa, Japan where he completed Sergeants Course and served as Apprentice IRT, Assistant Enlisted Conductor, Assistant Small Ensemble Leader, Supply NCOIC, Brass Band Ensemble Leader, Barbershop Ensemble Leader, and Platoon Sergeant, and the Marine Combat Instructor of Water Survival Course. In 2011 he attended the SNCO Career Course and was promoted to his current rank of Staff Sergeant.
 
In September of 2012, SSgt Norris attended the Unit Leader’s Course at the Naval School of Music. After completion of the course, in June 2013, SSgt Norris reported to the Parris Island Marine Band where he served as Assistant and Acting Instrument Repair Technician, GCPC cardholder, Supply SNCOIC, Brass Band Ensemble Leader, Section Leader, and Saxophone Instrumentalist.
 
In January of 2017, SSgt Norris was assigned to Marine Band San Diego to serve as the assistant Instrument Repair Technician. He also served as the Installation Riding Club President. In 2018, he attended the Unit Marine Awareness and Prevention Integrated Training Instructor course.
 
In January of 2020, SSgt Norris reported to his current assignment with the Parris Island Marine Band where he has served as Assistant Drum Major, Assistant Enlisted Conductor, Training SNCOIC, Platoon Sergeant, Brass Band Ensemble Leader, Section Leader, and Saxophone Instrumentalist. He has also been featured as a Narrator for multiple projects, to include the 2021 project “You Were There,” in which the Parris Island Marine Band received a Southeast Emmy Nomination in 2022.
 
SSgt Norris’ awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal (6th award), National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (3rd award).
