Chief Warrant Officer 3 Katherine T. Genovese enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2005. Upon completion of Recruit Training and Marine Combat Training she attended the Basic Music Course at the Naval School of Music. Upon graduation, she was assigned as a clarinet instrumentalist with Marine Band San Diego.
In 2010, CWO3 Genovese attended the Unit Leader Course at the Naval School of Music. Upon graduation as the Honor Graduate, she served as an Instructor and Woodwind Branch Head.
In 2014, CWO3 Genovese attended the Senior Musician Course at the Naval School of Music. Upon graduation, she reported for duty to the 2d Marine Aircraft Wing Band, serving as the Enlisted Conductor.
In 2016, she was selected for promotion to Warrant Officer. Upon completion of the Warrant Officer Basic Course at The Basic School, CWO3 Genovese reported for duty as Officer in Charge and Director of the Parris Island Marine Band in July 2017. CWO3 Genovese reported for duty as Officer in Charge and Director of the Quantico Marine Corps Band in July 2020. She was promoted to her present rank in September 2021.
Prior to joining the United States Marine Corps, CWO3 Genovese earned a Bachelor of Music in Clarinet Performance degree from the University of Michigan and Master of Music degrees in Clarinet Performance and Music Education from Boston University. She has served on the faculties at Boston University and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute and is active as a freelance musician.
Her personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2nd award).
