Gunnery Sergeant Geoffrey A. Parks

Gunnery Sergeant Geoffrey Parks enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and attended Recruit Training in September 2007 at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California. Upon graduation from Recruit Training, he attended the Naval School of Music Basic Course in Norfolk, Virginia. In Gunnery Sergeant Parks’ first enlistment he served as a percussion instrumentalist at the Albany Marine Band from September 2008 to September 2011. 
 
In September 2011, Gunnery Sergeant Parks reported to Marine Band San Diego and served as a percussion instrumentalist and Assistant Drum Major. While stationed in San Diego, California he was selected to return to the Naval School of Music for the Sound Reinforcement Course from which he graduated as the Honor Graduate.

In September 2014, Gunnery Sergeant Parks reported to the 1st Marine Division Band as a percussion instrumentalist. During his time with the 1st Marine Division Band, Gunnery Sergeant Parks served as the Assistant Drum Major; then as the Acting Drum Major.

Gunnery Sergeant Parks reported to the Naval School of Music in December 2016 in order to attend the Unit Leader Course. Upon graduation of the Unit Leader Course in 2017, Gunnery Sergeant Parks remained on staff as the Percussion Instructor and Drill Band Instructor. In 2018, he was selected to become a Drum Major. In 2019, Gunnery Sergeant Parks served as the Marine Detachment Gunnery Sergeant for the Naval School of Music until 2020 when he once again served as the Percussion Instructor until transferring to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band in October 2021 where he currently serves as the Drum Major.

Gunnery Sergeant Parks’ personal awards include: Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (second award), and Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal (fourth award)
