Chief Warrant Officer 2 Riggs enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2003 and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, SC. He subsequently reported to the Naval School of Music located at Virginia Beach, VA where he attended the Basic Music Course. Upon completion of training, he was assigned to the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Band at Twenty-nine Palms, CA where he served as a percussion instrumentalist, Percussion Section Leader, Transportation Non-commissioned Officer in Charge, Squad Leader and Assistant Enlisted Conductor.
In 2008, CWO2 Riggs was assigned as an Academics Instructor at the Naval School of Music. Additional billets during that tour included Substance Abuse Control Officer and Assistant Percussion Instructor. Immediately following his tour as an Academics Instructor, he remained at the Naval School of Music and attended the Unit Leader Course. CWO2 Riggs was then assigned to Marine Band San Diego at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, CA as a Percussion Instrumentalist. During that tour he also had the opportunity to serve as Enlisted Conductor, Drum Major, Rhythm Group Leader, and Music Library Staff Non-commissioned Officer in Charge.
In 2014, he again returned to the Naval School of Music where he served as Percussion Instructor, Percussion Branch Head, Training Staff Non-commissioned Officer in Charge, and Substance Abuse Control Officer. CWO2 Riggs subsequently attended the Senior Musician Course and remained at the Naval School of Music to serve as the Marine Detachment Gunnery Sergeant and Administrative Chief.
In January of 2020, CWO2 Riggs attended the Warrant Officer Basic Course at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA. After completion of the course, he was assigned to his current billet as Officer in Charge of 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Band.
Chief Warrant Officer 2 Riggs' personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Gold Star).
