Master Gunnery Sgt. Robert Marroquín is currently serving as Band Marketing and Production Chief, Marine Corps Fleet Music, where he oversees service-level strategic music marketing and communication of the Marine Corps Fleet Bands on behalf of the Director of Communication, Communication Directorate, Headquarters Marine Corps.
Master Gunnery Sgt. Marroquín holds Graduate Certification in Audio and Music Production from The Los Angeles Recording School and The Recording Workshop.
Master Gunnery Sgt. Marroquín enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1998 and completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California and Marine combat training at Camp Pendleton, California. He completed the Basic Music Course in 1999 at the Armed Forces School of Music in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Master Gunnery Sgt. Marroquín served as a trumpet instrumentalist in the following Fleet Marine Bands: Marine Air Ground Combat Center Band (1999-2001); III Marine Expeditionary Force Band (2001-2005); and 1st Marine Division Band (2005-2007). Master Gunnery Sgt. Marroquín served as a Small Ensemble Leader in the following Fleet Marine Bands: 1st Marine Division Band (2009-2013); and Marine Band San Diego (2013-2014). As do all Fleet Marine musicians, Master Gunnery Sgt. Marroquín served in a variety of music, collateral duty, and leadership roles, to include Platoon leadership.
Master Gunnery Sgt. Marroquín deployed in support of Operation Unified Assistance - Thailand (2004); Operation Enduring Freedom – Afghanistan (2012). In 2021, Master Gunnery Sgt. Marroquín served as an instructor at the Naval School of Music. From 2014-2018, he served as the Musician Technical Assistant at 8th Marine Corps Recruiting District.
Master Gunnery Sgt. Marroquín was promoted to his current rank in 2024 and served as the Enlisted Bandleader of the following Fleet Marine Bands: Marine Band San Diego (2019-2021).
Master Gunnery Sgt. Marroquín attended the Unit Leader Course (2007), Sound Reinforcement Course (2008), Senior Musician Course (2009) and is a graduate of the E8 Western Regional Seminar (2020). His awards include: the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4th Award), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3rd Award).
