Captain Stephen Talbot
Director
Marine Corps Band Program

Captain Steve Talbot currently serves as Head, Marine Corps Fleet Music, where he directs and oversees Occupational Field and Program management matters on behalf of the Director of Communication, Communication Directorate, Headquarters Marine Corps.
 
Capt. Talbot enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 2003 and completed Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina and Marine Combat Training at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He completed the Basic Music Course in 2004 at the Armed Forces School of Music in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
 
Capt. Talbot served as an instrumentalist in the following Fleet Marine Bands: 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Band (2004-2008); Quantico Marine Corps Band (2008-2009); and the Albany Marine Band (2010-2011). Capt. Talbot served as a Small Ensemble Leader in the following Fleet Marine Bands: Albany Marine Band (2011-2012) and the 2nd Marine Division Band (2012-2014). As do all Fleet Marine musicians, Captain Talbot served in a variety of music, collateral duty, and leadership roles, to include Platoon leadership.

Capt. Talbot deployed to the Al Anbar Province, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (2007). Captain Talbot served as an Academics Instructor at the Naval School of Music from 2014 to 2018.
 
Capt. Talbot was appointed a Warrant Officer and graduated from The Basic School in 2018 and served as the Director of the following Fleet Marine Bands: Marine Corps Forces Pacific Band (2018-2022) and Marine Forces Reserve Band (2022-2024).
 
Capt. Talbot attended the Unit Leader Course (2009), Sound Reinforcement Course (2012), and Senior Musician Course (2017), and he is a distinguished graduate of Expeditionary Warfare School (2021). Captain Talbot was the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer Musician of the Year (2016) and the recipient of the Colonel George S. Howard Citation of Musical Excellence for Military Concert Bands (2022). His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (2nd award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4th award), Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4th award).
